Legends of the OPS Quilt

OPS Quilt

The Legends of the OPS Quilt is a beautiful painting representing the importance and passion for public service in Ontario. The quilt was unveiled on Thursday, September 13th 2007 in the Ontario Investment and Trade Services' offices at 161 Bay Street, in Toronto.

Approximately 100 people, including 34 of the 49 nominees were in attendance for this stellar event. Tony Dean, Secretary of the Cabinet and Jim Adams, Chair of PIC presided over the unveiling. Each nominee featured on the quilt received a certificate with a picture of their quilt block. A slide show describing each of the nominees' achievements concluded the program.

The Legends of the OPS Quilt project was funded by the Quarter Century Club and managed by a Project Management intern through the Ontario Internship Program. Special thanks go to the Project Management Centre of Excellence for funding the reception at the unveiling of the quilt. A slide show featuring the event can be found at this link.

Comments:

"I had the great pleasure yesterday to participate in the unveiling of a very beautiful quilt created by Joanne Newman depicting 'Legends of the OPS'. Joanne is the Executive Coordinator of the Provincial Interministerial Council which also sponsored the project together with the Quarter Century Club and the Project Management Centre of Excellence. Jim Adams the PIC Chair officiated at the ceremony. You have to see this quilt. If you have ever wondered, as I have, why the work and passion of the OPS is not more commonly represented artistically, this creation will meet this desire and inspire you. It's a showstopper! You can see for yourself in the picture below. Congratulations Joanne on a spectacular and important creation." - Tony Dean, the Secretary of the Cabinet.

"The honour is mine to have been involved in this project in a very small way! You really hit this one out of the park. Enjoy all the kudos - I know we don't get it often enough in the OPS." - Joel Gorlick, one of the Quilt nominees.

A .pdf format (requires Adobe Reader) of the Quilt book is available to download and view. It has a listing of all the nominees as well as the sponsors. Download
