AGM 2007

The QCC's 62nd AGM was held in the Ontario Room of the Macdonald Block on 19th June, 2007. Over 85 members were on hand for the proceedings.

The Ontario Public Service Quarter Century Club (QCC) was established in 1945 by the honourable George Drew, the then Premier of the Province, to recognize and honour long service employees. For over 60 years, the Premier of Ontario has traditionally been the Honourary President and the Lieutenant Governor the Honourary Patron of the Club.

QCC President Gail Ure noted in her report that in 2006, the QCC has helped to recognise 4,613 OPS staff members, with a combined total of 109,065 years of service in the OPS. The QCC had also issued 65,000 cards to members, introduced 14 new discount services and established Superior Tire and Auto as a new preferred service provider.

The 2007/08 Board of Directors:

President: Gail Ure
Vice President: Murray Chitra
Secretary Treasurer: Don Benoit (re-elected)
Directors:

Vic Pakalnis (re-elected)

At the end of the formal meeting, updates were received from the Benefits Policy Branch and Great West Life who reported on the new OPS retiree drug card as well as an update from The Ontario Pension Board. Unfortunately, the OPT representative was unable to attend but subsequently provided a copy of his remarks which are available here. Copies may also be requested by calling the QCC office.
